How to use Atlas

Everything you can ask Atlas to do for you, in plain English.

Atlas is your AI financial coach. Tap the chat bubble anywhere in the app and talk to Atlas in normal sentences. Atlas knows your debts, budget, and spending, so you don't have to spell out the context. Here are the kinds of things you can ask.

Logging expenses

  • Log a single expense: “I spent $40 at Target on groceries.”
  • Log several at once: “Log $8 coffee, $15 lunch, and $22 gas today.”
  • Update a past expense: “Change yesterday's Target expense to $45.”
  • Delete an expense: “Delete that $40 Target expense.”
  • Bulk edit expenses: “Round all my coffee expenses this week up to the nearest dollar” or “Recategorize every Amazon expense last month to ‘Shopping’.”

Logging income & savings

  • Log a paycheck: “I got paid $2,500 today.”
  • Log other income: “I got $200 from Sarah for rent” or “I got a $500 tax refund.”
  • Remove an income entry: “Delete the $200 I just logged.”
  • See this month's income: “How much did I earn this month?”
  • Track money moved to savings: “I moved $300 to my emergency fund.”

Managing debts

  • See everything you owe: “What do I owe right now?”
  • Add a new debt: “Add a $5,000 credit card at 22% APR with a $100 minimum.”
  • Update a debt: “Change my car loan minimum to $350” or “The balance on my credit card is now $2,800.”
  • See your payoff plan: “When will I be debt-free?”
  • Know which debt to tackle first: “Which debt should I pay off first?”

Recording debt payments

  • Record a payment: “I just paid $150 toward my credit card.” Atlas updates the balance and recalculates your payoff date.
  • Undo a payment: “Undo that last payment.”
  • See your payment history: “Show me every payment I've made on my student loan.”

Budget

  • Check this month's budget: “How am I doing on my budget this month?”
  • Change a category amount: “Raise my Entertainment budget to $200.”
  • Add a category: “Add a Gifts category with $75.”
  • Remove a category: “Remove the Dining Out category.”
  • Update your monthly income baseline: “My new monthly income is $5,200.”
  • Start a month fresh: “Clear this month's budget, I want to redo it.”

Recurring bills & subscriptions

  • See all your subscriptions: “What subscriptions am I paying for?”
  • Add a recurring bill: “Add Netflix $15 monthly.”
  • Change one: “My rent went up to $1,450.”
  • Pause one temporarily: “Pause my gym membership for 3 months.”
  • Cancel one: “I cancelled Spotify, remove it.”

Spending insights

  • See recent spending: “What did I spend this week?”
  • Break down by category: “Show me my spending by category this month.”
  • Spot trends: “Which day of the week do I spend the most?”
  • Find duplicate expenses: “Did I log any duplicates?”
  • See what you use most: “What's my most-used payment method?”

What-if simulations

Ask Atlas to run a projection. Nothing in your data changes, you just see the result.

  • Extra payments: “What if I pay $200 extra toward debt every month?”
  • Cut a spending category: “What if I cut my Dining Out in half?”
  • A one-time windfall: “What if I put a $1,000 tax refund on my highest-priority debt?”

Reports & coaching

  • Get your latest report: “What's my latest monthly report?”
  • Ask for one concrete change: “What's the one thing I should change this month?”
  • Find things to cut: “What should I cancel to save money?”

Payment methods

  • See what's saved: “What payment methods do I have?”
  • Add a new one: “Add my Chase checking account.”

Things Atlas doesn't do

  • Investment, refinancing, tax, legal, or bankruptcy advice
  • Connect to your bank automatically: expenses are entered manually
  • Create a brand-new budget from scratch: use the Budget tab for first-time setup
  • Export your data to files: use the app's export feature in Settings
  • Send push notifications: those are managed in Settings → Notifications

Tips for talking to Atlas

  • Be specific when it matters. “$40 at Target on groceries” works better than “$40 groceries.”
  • Follow-ups work. Atlas remembers context within a conversation, so “delete that one” or “change it to $35” is fine right after logging something.
  • You can just ask questions. Atlas already knows your balances, budget, and history, so you don't have to restate the numbers.
  • Destructive actions confirm first. Deletes and bulk edits ask you to approve before they run, so you can't accidentally wipe data.
